Pitch the City

Brief

Startup style format for pitching your idea to 5 judges during the NY Tech Alliance monthly meetup at NYU's Skirball Auditorium. Each team got introduced, first they played our 3-minute submission video, followed by a 2-minute pitch, then a 4-minute Q&A with the judges and lastly a 2 minute Q&A with the audience all to convince the judges your solution of how to integrate driverless vehicles into NYC is right for the city.

Approach

I developed a clickable prototype of the app that showed the journey, features, and I walked through it on stage as the team told the story of New Yorkers and how the app could help them have a better and more enjoyable experience across both public and private transportation while integrating autonomous vehicles into NYC all within one app.

Recognition

Awarded a one-year membership at New Lab, an innovation space located at the Brooklyn Navy Yards, to further our research and development of the sAVe App.

Because of our proactive approach to the driverless car issue, we were invited to speak about our solution, research and show how this can work in other areas and help address their transit problems.

“Your proposal was very well researched and the personal nature of your pitch told the story of real New Yorkers well. Discussing and tackling the topic of accessibility is a big one and you dealt with this topic perhaps the most effectively of all the competition entries.”

Presentation Snippets

Here are four animations from the clickable prototype that was developed for our presentation at the Pitch the City Event.

sAVe App – Path 1

This walkthrough is for requesting a ride for your immediate transportation needs from start to finish across both public and private transportation providers.

sAVe App – Path 2

This walkthrough is for scheduling a repeatable ride to work for your transportation needs from start to finish across both public and private transportation providers.

sAVe App – Path 3

This walkthrough is for joining a neighborhood group where you can share a ride to the destination of the activity that this group is interested in.

sAVe App – Path 4

This walkthrough is for setting up your profile with accessibility requirements so that your transportation journey would include those provisions across both public and private transportation providers.

Come see how the sAVe App progressed and how it worked for San Diego when they created the D4SD Competition.

ABOUT

I've always loved to design things, but my tinkering showed me how things work, which helped me discover that creative problem solving is designing.
